Notice of Nondiscrimination

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 require school districts to have officially adopted policy statements of nondiscrimination.

As per Board of Education policy 5.500 and 6.304, applicants for employment, students, parents of elementary and secondary school students, employees, sources of referral of applicants for employment, and all unions or professional organizations holding collective bargaining or professional agreements with Houston County Schools are hereby notified that this institution does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, or disability in access to, treatment of, or employment in its programs and activities.

Any person having inquiries concerning Houston County Schools’ compliance with the regulations implementing Title VI and Title IX is directed to contact Kelly Brown, Title VI/IX Coordinator. Questions pertaining to compliance with the regulations implementing Section 504 should be directed to Mark Beal, Section 504 Coordinator. Both may be reached at P.O. These employees have been designated to coordinate Houston County Schools’ efforts to comply with the regulations implementing Title VI, Title IX, and section 504.

Any person may also contact the TN Department of Education or the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education, regarding Houston County Schools’ compliance with the regulations implementing Title VI, Title IX, or Section 504.
