Houston County Middle School Counseling Program

Mission

The mission of the Houston County Middle School Counselor is to provide all students with a comprehensive school counseling program encompassing national and state counseling standards. The Counselor will promote a lifetime love of learning. The Counselor will also assist students in attaining the highest level of achievement through their growth in academic, career, and personal/social domains in partnership with administrators, teachers, parents, and the community.

Vision

The vision of the Houston County Middle School Counselor is to work collaboratively to support students in becoming educated, healthy, responsible, and successful citizens.

Beliefs

It is the belief of the Houston County Middle School Counselor

  • that all students can achieve and meet high standards that will result in college and career readiness.
  • that the developmental needs of all students are addressed in a comprehensive school counseling program using state and national standards planned, managed, delivered, and evaluated by professional school counselors.
  • that the school counselor’s role as a leader in the school is to advocate for all students, support teachers and administrators, collaborate with parents and community, and provide services to ensure the maximum growth of every student.
  • that adhering to the ASCA Ethical Standards for school counselors ensures a quality of professionalism and assures that the highest moral principles are applied.
